Canberk Ulaş is a Turkish – duduk player, composer, improviser, and educator based in Malmö, Sweden. Rooted in traditional Armenian playing, he gently expands the expressive range of the instrument through extended techniques and subtle electronic elements. His artistic approach emphasizes spaciousness, bringing the ancient voice of the duduk into the present through acoustic depth and meditative soundscapes.
He studied the duduk under masters Suren Asaduryan and Özcan Gül in Istanbul. During his master’s studies at the University of Agder in Norway and the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, he honed his skills in solo performance, improvisation, and interplay.
In his latest album, released in 2024, Ulaş collaborated with prominent Norwegian musicians, including Arve Henriksen, Eivind Aarset, Bugge Wesseltoft, and Jan Bang, and received positive acclaim from leading European music magazines. Throughout his career, he has worked with a wide range of artists across Scandinavia and beyond, such as Hub Hildenbrand (DE), Tord Gustavsen (NO), Ensemble Ylajali (NO), Cenk Erdoğan (TR), Carl Johan’s Chamber Choir (SE), Erik Dahl (SE), Donovan von Martens (SE), Sara Grabow (DK), Tomas Raae (DK), Jonas Colstrup (DK) and other distinguished musicians, contributing his duduk to numerous albums, concerts, and interdisciplinary productions. In addition to his performance career, he actively teaches the duduk online to students globally and leads various workshops. He is also the founder of Global Duduk Academy, a platform dedicated to building a complete and structured learning ecosystem for the duduk.
