What Does Canberk Teach?

The duduk technique that Canberk preserves and teaches originates mainly from Armenia and has been passed down to him by master duduk players Suren Asaduryan (Armenia) and Özcan Gül (Türkiye). His approach also has been deeply influenced by legendary Armenian duduk players such as Vache Hovsepyan and Djivan Gasparyan.

While Canberk continues to expand his expressive range through different techniques and various musical disciplines, his playing remains rooted in Anatolian traditions and Armenian duduk techniques. These foundations are central to his teaching, ensuring students learn the authentic technique that has been refined over generations.

The Unique Nature of the Duduk

The duduk has a distinct character and a highly unique playing technique. Its tuning, timbre, and intonation are inherently unstable, requiring careful control to produce a well-balanced sound.

One of the most common mistakes beginners make is focusing too much on playing sheet music from the start. The duduk demands a deep connection with its sound, prioritizing tone and expression over notation. Canberk’s approach emphasizes developing a strong understanding of the instrument’s voice, allowing students to master its nuances and achieve a rich, resonant tone.

Lesson Details

Duduk lessons are open to all ages and skill levels, from beginners to professionals. You do not need prior knowledge of music notation to start. Weekly lessons are recommended for consistent progress but are not mandatory.

Lesson Format:

Conducted via Google Meet
Available in English or Turkish
The Google Meet link will be sent to you with your appointment confirmation email.

Important

Please position your device’s camera at approximately eye level so the teacher can see your posture and face.
Ensure you have enough lighting for the video call.
Make sure you are alone in a silent room to minimize distractions and maintain focus during the lesson.
Please don’t record the session without asking for a permission.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel your lesson up to 24 hours before the scheduled time. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will not be eligible for a refund.

You can request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, provided that no lessons from the package have been used.
Refunds will be processed using the original payment method within 3 business days after approval.
